So I've had a Google Music account for a while now, haven't really gotten to using it (special thanks to Spotify ) However, I have two invites so if you want one, shoot me an email at albin.george@teknologio.org

Mac OS X Lion
I'm sure that everyone's heard of Mac OS Lion, though I agree with Gizmodo that the OS isn't all that great as Apple thought it would be. However, all the proud Apple Owners (I do have a macbook) will soon be upgrading to it.
But this time around apple has cut out any Macbooks that are running Core Duo processors for some reason (probably for the best, as apple attempts to save us from slow processors, and make this world a better place). Before I continue Core Duo and Core 2 Duo are two very separate processors.
A friend of mine owns one of these great Macbook Pros running Core Duo, and was wanting to upgrade but couldn't due to it's hardware limitations. As much as I'd love to help him run Lion on his macbook I can't and I wouldn't advice it.In essence, the new OS runs the "Finder App" as 64 bit only as of the last release. So to say you could bypass all the restrictions by following the instructions at OS X Daily, the finder app wouldn't work, which in case you didn't realize would be a big bummer. It's like using Windows with explorer :/

OpenNMS - An open source network monitoring system
Currently as a part of my internship I'm working on developing, implementing, and documenting a (hopefully) successful open source network monitoring system to monitor thousands of network devices globally. It's my first project of this scale and magnitude and requires a lot of learning and high level thinking. I'm half way through it and already had to bypass quite a few hurdles. As this summer finishes I'm hoping to wrap up with a post that would describe my adventure while implementing OpenNMS and my opinion about it.
Also I should add that I come from a non open source background with basic experience in Linux (Ubuntu) and this entire project has been an eye opener for me. Something I've learned about open source in short time is that it's usually full of bugs and lack of easy to understand documentation. This is not because the application is ineffective but rather the lack of funding for open source initiatives.
So a word of advice: These developers and programmers who spend night and day don't get paid for this. So go easy if you encounter issues with open source applications and always remember that best way to get help is to ask not complain, because you aren't paying for these applications.

The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed.
While I was interning at The healing Place, Inc, I came across this error quite often "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed.". We were running Server 2008 along with Windows 7 on majority of the machines. This error can be fixed two ways based on my experience.

- Easy fix
- Unplug the RJ-45 cable and log in using a recent account (hopefully you have a cache of the administrator profile) or a local account on the computer. Then disconnect the computer from the domain to a WorkGroup and then restart the machine.
- Log in using a local account and join it back to the domain. It will give you a choice to use the same machine profile but chose to create a new one and voila.
- Long boring method. (No offense, I pronmise)
- Kill and rejoin the Domain… (with PC rename in between)
On the DC:
Delete the offending Computer Account that resides in Active Directory.
Delete the Computer’s IP Lease(s) in DHCP
On the client (with no connection to LAN):
Log onto the local machine (not the Domain) as an Admin.
Unjoin the Domain by joining a “TEMP” workgroup. Reboot required. Log into TEMP workgroup as the Admin.
Rename the Computer. Reboot required.
Log into the Local Machine, now rejoin the Domain. Reboot required. Login into the Domain.
Test network access and life is good. The Computer exists in AD and DHCP.
Rename the Computer back to what I originally wanted. Reboot required.
Test network access and life is still good. The new Computer name is in AD and DHCP, as expected. (from Daily Tweak )
Hello World!
As most programming languages often teach how to print "Hello World" in the beginning, the same way I chose to start my blog. A blog where I'm going to try to post some of the issues I encounter within Information Technology and my solutions and work around for them. After all the best way to learn is to learn from mistakes (well others mistakes :D ). Feel free to drop by and ask me questions if you have any and I'll try my best to answer them. But before I begin this adventure let's make something clear: I'm still young and early in my career but I've had the blessing of gaining real life experience and have a more advanced touch with Information technology. Feel free to check out my soon to be posted resume, if you doubt me or have a job for me! :)
Till then HELLO WORLD
